Blues on the Chippewa will AGAIN be ON the Chippewa! Mark your calendar and join us at our new location - Veteran’s Memorial Park, on the shore of the Chippewa River.
Blues on the Chippewa is an event that is FREE to attend. We ask that you consider making a donation throughout the weekend, as part of our mission is to help those who help others in the area. In the past we’ve supported the Durand Area Food Pantry, Brent Titus Music For Children Program, Pepin County Humane Society, seniors citizens programs, Durand Women’s Club ‘Fill a Backpack Program’, and the Pepin County Historical Society to name a few.
LACHY DOLEY has been described as the ‘Jimi Hendrix of keyboards’ by his fellow musicians. The Australian keyboard wizard will be wrapping up his North American tour at Blues on the Chippewa with a MUST SEE show that’s sure to be nothing like you’ve ever seen before.
Her website banner includes the line “NOT YOUR AVERAGE CALCULUS GEEK.” NIK WEST is a 24 year old, young electric bassist who clearly knows her way around her instrument and plays like she has been inspired by the funky likes of Larry Graham, Louis Johnson (of Brothers Johnson fame) and Marcus Miller. Nik West is also a highly expressive singer and is one of the few artists that can sing a soft and smooth jazzy vocal as well as a raspy high pitched rock vocal.
MIKE WHEELER has a vast knowledge of music and a voice that's reminiscent of the late Sam Cooke. He can sing and play everything so well that you may forget what the original record even sounds like. From Jazz to Rock, from popular music to Top 40, he slides in and out of musical genres with sophistication, ease and indulgence. DEMETRIA TAYLOR has been performing at Blue Chicago since 2010. She is the seventh child of eight from the family of the late blues legend Eddie Taylor Sr. and is helping keep the legacy of her father alive. Born in Chicago, Demetria grew up surrounded by Blues music listening on records to her biggest influences including Etta James, Bessie Smith, Big Mama Thornton and most importantly, “The Queen of The Blues” Koko Taylor.
